Uzbekistan and SOCAR Expand Strategic Energy Cooperation

On 27 August, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held online talks with Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
SOCAR is the state-owned oil and gas company of Azerbaijan, established in 1992. The company employs more than 48,000 people and has an extensive international presence. In Uzbekistan, SOCAR is involved in the implementation of a hydrocarbon development project with an estimated investment volume of around USD 2 billion.
The parties exchanged views on prospects for further expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to the progress of ongoing joint projects, as well as the development of new mutually beneficial initiatives.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation aimed at increasing bilateral trade and advancing strategic joint projects.
