Tashkent Hosted the 15th Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission Meeting

On 17 July, Tashkent hosted the 15th Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the joint meeting of the Business Council under the Intergovernmental Commission with the participation of leading business representatives from both countries.
The parties discussed the expansion of trade, investment partnership and industrial cooperation. During January–May, trade turnover increased by almost 40%, and the target of raising it to USD 1 billion was reaffirmed.
Projects in geological exploration, precious metals mining, the textile industry, tourism and urban development were reviewed, along with initiatives in the pharmaceutical, electrical engineering and food industries, as well as the production of construction materials.
Special attention was paid to interregional cooperation, the holding of the 4th Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan Forum in August, and the expansion of the portfolio of the bilateral investment company.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the Intergovernmental Commission and a package of agreements were signed in the fields of investment, financing, industrial cooperation, geological exploration and mineral resource development.
