Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, in cooperation with the Tennis Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, organized and hosted a tennis tournament that became a key highlight of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum. Held on June 15, 2026, at the Olympic City (Olympic Village), this large-scale event was supported by the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, the Ministry of Sports, and the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

The tournament served as a unique international platform, bringing together Uzbek officials, foreign delegates, corporate executives, and the investment community in an atmosphere of open dialogue, athletic competition, and partnership. Twenty representatives from the international and domestic business sectors competed in the matches. Foreign participants included executives from global industry leaders such as Acwa, Rothschild & Co, BlackRock, International Hospitals Group, and Nordic Star Law Offices. The domestic business and professional community was represented by executives and leaders from Uzbek Technological Metals Combine JSC, Kapital.uz, Clinics.uz, Centil Law Firm, and Ipak Yuli Bank.

A major social component of the TMIF sports program was the presentation of the "Generations United" initiative, implemented by the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan in partnership with Acwa, the largest investor in Uzbekistan's renewable energy sector. Launched in 2025, this project aims to counter social isolation among the elderly, strengthen intergenerational bonds, and foster a culture of mentorship through sports. As part of the forum, youth and senior representatives spent the day on the courts, participating in an intergenerational masterclass and a dynamic "Generations United Tiebreak Slam" tournament.

The organizers and partners emphasized the strategic and social importance of integrating such projects into the agenda of an international economic forum.

Jon Zaidi, CEO of Acwa in Uzbekistan, noted that the future is built through collaboration between generations. Experienced professionals bring wisdom, expertise, and leadership, while the younger generation contributes innovation, energy, and fresh problem-solving approaches. He stated that Generations United serves as a platform where these strengths complement each other, and expressed pride in presenting this initiative at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, a venue where visions for the future of business, investment, and society naturally converge.

Aziz Khamidov, Vice Chairman of the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan, commented that tennis development extends beyond sport, serving as a tool to unite people, develop human capital, and build sustainable social ties. He emphasized that the Generations United project demonstrates how sport can strengthen mutual understanding between generations, promote healthy lifestyles, and create a space for open dialogue. Hosting the tournament within the framework of the Tashkent International Investment Forum further enhances its significance by bringing together international investors, business leaders, and community figures, a format that fosters not only athletic and social development but also the establishment of new professional and business networks.

Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, the tournament demonstrated that sports can effectively support diplomatic goals, unite individuals across generations and nations, and create optimal conditions for long-term positive change in society and global business cooperation.
