Uzbekistan and Russia Discuss Steps to Boost Trade and Expand Cooperation

On March 13, the 5th meeting of the Working Group on Increasing Trade Turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia was held under the co-chairmanship of Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
By the end of 2025, trade turnover between the two countries reached $13 billion, increasing by 8.4 percent. Exports of Uzbek products grew by 12.2%, reaching $4.4 billion. In January 2026, mutual trade increased by 37%, reaching $1.1 billion, which is $293.1 million higher than in the same period of the previous year.
Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed key issues related to the development of trade, economic, industrial, energy and agricultural cooperation, and identified additional measures to expand interaction and significantly increase bilateral trade by 2030.
Special attention was also given to the progress in implementing the project to establish a branch of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy in Tashkent, aimed at developing professional training in the field of international trade.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of the agreements reached and continue regular cooperation at the level of профильные ministries and agencies.
