Uzbekistan and Sasol Limited Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Gas-Chemical and Coal-Chemical Sectors

On March 15, a meeting was held in Tashkent between the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and Dr. Sarushen Pillay, Executive Vice President of the South African company Sasol Limited.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the gas-chemical and coal-chemical industries. It was noted that the dialogue continues the engagement initiated in February of this year in Cape Town. The sides confirmed their mutual interest in implementing joint projects focused on the deep processing of coal and natural gas, as well as the production of high value-added products.
Particular attention was paid to the possible participation of Sasol in the implementation of the Coal-to-Olefins (CTO) project. In addition, the parties discussed prospects for technological cooperation within the further development of the Uzbekistan GTL complex, including the company’s potential participation in projects aimed at expanding production capacities and introducing advanced processing technologies.
Sasol Limited is a South African energy and chemical company founded in 1950. The company employs approximately 28,100 people. Its total assets amount to about $22 billion, while revenue reached $16.6 billion in 2024. Sasol operates in 22 countries, including South Africa, Mozambique, the United States, Germany, Italy and Slovakia.
