In Samarkand, within the framework of international meetings held alongside the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov, held talks with the Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Huai Jinping.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science, and innovation — particularly in engineering education, digital technologies, vocational training, and teacher preparation.
Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov emphasized that Uzbekistan–China cooperation has taken on a consistent institutional form in recent years and shared information on achievements made in 2024–2025. In particular, 29 joint educational programs have been launched between higher education institutions of the two countries, and the International Mathematical Center named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi has been established at Urgench State University in partnership with Peking University.
The meeting also discussed plans to establish a branch of Xi’an Petroleum University in Samarkand and to create an Engineering Innovations Laboratory in cooperation with the Beijing Institute of Technology.
The parties agreed to further develop the activities of the “Uzbek–Chinese Alliance for Vocational Education,” expand the “Chinese Workshops” project to all regions, and strengthen cooperation in digital education.
Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov also proposed taking practical steps to further develop the teaching of the Chinese language and to train simultaneous interpreters and highly qualified linguists.
At the end of the meeting, both ministers agreed to elevate cooperation to a new stage and to advance concrete initiatives during the Second Uzbekistan–China Education Forum, which will take place on November 2 in Tashkent.
