The First Meeting of the Uzbekistan–China Vocational Education Alliance Held

During the meeting, the participants discussed ways to expand cooperation in the field of vocational education, introduce advanced international experience into the learning process, and improve the system for training qualified specialists in modern professions.
In his address, Director of the Vocational Education Agency Azimjon Husanov stated:
“Today, Uzbekistan is carrying out large-scale reforms aimed at improving the quality of education, expanding training in modern professions, and aligning curricula with international standards. There are 598 technical colleges in the country, where more than 442,000 students study in 370 professional disciplines. In addition, 47 technical colleges are implementing international education programs in cooperation with the UK’s Pearson, Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power, Switzerland’s Globogate, and Germany’s Avestos and BSW companies.”
The meeting participants also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between vocational education institutions of the two countries, launching innovative joint projects, and expanding internship and practical training opportunities for students.
At the conclusion of the event, the sides identified priority areas for further collaboration, including strengthening ties in vocational education, integrating the learning process with industry, improving teacher qualifications, and implementing joint educational programs.
Background: Established in 2024, the Uzbekistan–China Vocational Education Alliance brings together 23 technical colleges from Uzbekistan, 128 colleges and 9 leading companies from China. The main goal of the alliance is to promote sustainable cooperation in vocational education, develop innovative workforce training systems, and enhance youth employment opportunities.
