The conference brought together specialists in education, public policy, academic research, and chess, becoming an important platform for discussing the role of chess in modern education.

Speaking at the event, FIDE Acting President Viswanathan Anand, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Sardor Rajabov, Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education Farhod Bakiyev, and other experts highlighted the importance of integrating chess more widely into the education system, studying advanced international practices, and using chess to develop essential 21st-century life skills among the younger generation.

The summit addressed the introduction of chess into school education in different countries, teacher training, and cooperation between educational institutions and chess organizations. The results of the “Chess in Education Global Survey”, which reflects the development of school chess programmes around the world, were also presented. Representatives of organizations that have made a significant contribution to the development of chess internationally were recognized and honored.

FIDE Acting President Viswanathan Anand particularly emphasized that FIDE’s designation of 2026 as the “Year of Chess in Education” will contribute to the development of chess in schools, strengthening teachers’ professional capacity, and expanding international exchange of experience.
