Gender-Responsive Budgeting to Be Developed in Uzbekistan

As part of the mission:
🔹 priority areas for implementing and ensuring the sustainability of reforms in gender-responsive budgeting (GRB) are being identified;
🔹 discussions are being held on aligning existing government programmes and initiatives with projects of international development partners;
🔹 a practical action plan is being developed, covering priority activities, expected outcomes, institutional responsibilities, implementation timelines and mechanisms;
🔹 particular attention is being paid to establishing effective coordination mechanisms among the ADB, government institutions and development partners.
The main objective of the project is to identify priority areas for supporting ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in the field of gender-responsive budgeting (GRB) and public financial management, as well as to agree on the scope of technical assistance.
During the seminar, priority areas for the pilot implementation of GRB were discussed, including:
▪️ higher education;
▪️ employment;
▪️ agriculture;
▪️ transport;
▪️ construction;
▪️ water management.
The mission is aimed at systematically incorporating gender considerations into the formulation of Uzbekistan’s state budget, improving the social effectiveness of public spending, and supporting public financial management reforms based on international experience.
