Education Representatives from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Enhance Their Skills in China in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education

A total of 27 participants from education authorities and higher education institutions of the two countries are taking part in the programme. The initiative was organized by Northwest Normal University of China. Its main objective is to facilitate the exchange of experience in the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in education, strengthen the leadership capacity of education sector managers, and promote cooperation with the digital education industry.
On September 13, the opening ceremony of the programme was held at Northwest Normal University. The event was attended by representatives of China's Ministry of Education, the Department of Education and foreign affairs authorities of Gansu Province, as well as education officials from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The programme covers topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence on education, China's strategy for the digitalization of education, the use of AI in higher and general education, teachers' professional development, changes in the educational process, big data analytics in education, and the planning and implementation of “smart campuses.”
Alongside the use of artificial intelligence in education, participants are also focusing on key prerequisites for digital transformation, including teacher training, data quality, information security, and ethical issues related to the use of AI. The representative of Uzbekistan emphasized that people must always remain at the heart of the educational process.
During the nine-day professional development programme, participants will visit a number of educational institutions, digital education facilities, and technology sites in China, engage with experts, and exchange views on the prospects for developing digital education in Central Asia.
The visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation between China and the countries of Central Asia in the field of education, particularly by expanding practical dialogue on digital education, human resource development, academic exchange, and the advancement of educational technologies.
In 2016, Northwest Normal University established the Institute for Central Asian Studies. To date, the university has hosted and educated more than 600 international students from Central Asian countries and has organized the China–Central Asia International Forum on Humanities Exchanges and Cooperation nine times.
