Tashkent University of Technology: Training a New Generation of Engineers

During his visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ознакомился with the conditions created at the university, its academic programs, and international cooperation projects. The university was established under a Presidential resolution dated September 8, 2025. A total of 69.5 billion soums was allocated for the project, and the building was completely refurbished and equipped with modern laboratories and educational facilities.
The academic programs have been developed based on the needs of industry and the labor market. To support this process, the demand for engineering professionals over the next 10 years was studied in cooperation with an international consulting company. Partnerships have been established with leading universities in Italy, China, and Germany, creating opportunities to introduce 2+2 programs and joint dual-degree programs for students.
The university places particular emphasis on combining education with practical experience. Cooperation has been established with more than ten major industrial enterprises, enabling students to participate in internships and dual education programs starting from their second year. Professors from foreign universities and highly qualified specialists are also involved in the teaching process.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, 400 students were admitted from among 1,654 applicants. All students in the first intake are studying under a 100 percent state-funded scholarship. This benefit is also set to remain available to students admitted through the 2029/2030 academic year.
During his meeting with students, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of acquiring modern knowledge, continuously exploring new opportunities, and constantly working on self-development. Special attention at the university is given to artificial intelligence, modern laboratories, scientific research, and practical projects.
The Tashkent University of Technology aims to become an internationally competitive institution of higher education, establish a strong scientific school, and rank among the world's top 300 technical universities by 2030. Organizing the entire educational process in English and attracting leading international specialists are also among the key priorities of its strategy.
Thus, the new university will serve not only to train engineering professionals but also to develop specialists capable of creating new technologies, innovative solutions, and practical projects for industry.
