New Academic Year Begins at the Tashkent Branch of Bauman Moscow State Technical University

The ceremonial event was attended by Qoʻngʻirotboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Branch’s Board of Trustees; Mikhail Gordin, Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University; Alexey Yerkhov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Uzbekistan; Sadritdin Turobjonov, Rector of Tashkent State Technical University; as well as the branch management, members of the Board of Trustees, distinguished guests, representatives of the media, and students.
In his address, Qoʻngʻirotboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, emphasized that the opening of the Tashkent branch of Bauman Moscow State Technical University is an important event for the country’s higher education system. As noted, the establishment of the branch is a practical outcome of agreements reached at the highest level between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia and is in line with the country’s large-scale state policy aimed at developing a new generation of engineers, scientists conducting research in technical fields, and technological leaders.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has been implementing large-scale reforms in the higher education, science, and innovation sectors. Today, more than 200 higher education institutions operate across the country, including numerous foreign universities and their branches. Engineering education holds particular importance in this process.
In this regard, the establishment of the Tashkent branch of Bauman Moscow State Technical University is of great significance. Throughout its nearly two-century history, Bauman University has developed an engineering school based on fundamental knowledge, high standards, practical training, and a close connection between science and industry.
Prior to the establishment of the branch, Tashkent State Technical University and Bauman University launched joint educational programmes, with 30 students currently studying across two academic fields. This cooperation became the first successful experience in combining the scientific and academic potential of the two universities.
The branch in Tashkent has commenced its operations as the 15th branch of Bauman University outside the Russian Federation. Particularly significant is the admission of more than 40 young people as the branch’s first students. They are making history as the first generation of representatives of the Bauman engineering school in Uzbekistan.
As emphasized, the activities of the branch will not be limited to training highly qualified specialists. Plans include the introduction of modern educational programmes, the establishment of scientific laboratories and research teams, and the involvement of students in collaborative work with scientists and engineers from industrial enterprises.
It was noted that the results of scientific research should be transformed into technologies, prototypes, patents, startups, or concrete solutions for the economy. In addition, the branch is expected to contribute to the development of a new national engineering school in Uzbekistan and become an important platform for training a new generation of local professors, teachers, researchers, and young scientists alongside leading professors.
Further strengthening cooperation between the university and industry has been identified as one of the key priorities. Leading industrial enterprises are expected to participate in the educational process, formulate engineering challenges, provide internship opportunities for students, establish joint laboratories, and, in the future, support the employment of graduates.
One of the key parts of the event was a meeting with the branch’s first-year students. The young people were encouraged to make effective use of the opportunities being created, acquire in-depth knowledge, not be afraid of complex challenges, pursue research, and strive to create new solutions and innovations.
