New academic year begins for first-year students at universities

In the current academic year, 209,100 first-year university students stepped into student life for the first time.
On the first day of the new academic year, higher education institutions are holding educational lessons called "The Hour of the Future," dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At these lessons, young people are told about the path of development the country has traveled during the years of independence, the large-scale reforms currently being implemented, the current stage of development of New Uzbekistan, and the role of youth in building the country's future.
In addition, during the first week of studies, first-year students are taking part in the "Freshman School," the "Introduction to the Credit Education System" week, and "Student Initiation" events.
As part of these events, students are given practical assistance on the credit-module system, principles of academic integrity, organizing independent study, opportunities for professional development, and the use of digital services within the higher education system.
For upper-year students, classes will begin on September 14.
Ahead of the new academic year, a number of practical measures were carried out to create the necessary infrastructure for students and to give them a proper welcome. In particular, new student dormitories with a total of 6,200 places and academic buildings with 3,500 places were put into operation at 13 higher education institutions.
Also, in order to systematically accommodate students in dormitories, universities have set up rapid-response headquarters, "Qalqon" groups, teams of tutors and volunteers, as well as call centers.
Work to accommodate students continues at 408 student dormitories with a total of 167,000 places, with priority given to young people in need of social protection.
