PhD Researcher from the University of Münster Successfully Defends Doctoral Dissertation at Termez State University

Sanjar Islamov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages of Termez State University, has successfully defended his doctoral research conducted at the prestigious University of Münster in Germany and has been awarded the academic degree of Dr. phil. (Doctor philosophiae).
His dissertation is devoted to the topic “Empirical Approaches to Intercultural Narratology: A Comparative Analysis of German and Uzbek Narratives.”

The defense holds particular significance for Termez State University. For the first time, academic supervisors from foreign higher education institutions — Professor Silvia Royvekamp of the University of Münster and Professor Matthias Martinez of the University of Wuppertal — visited Termez State University and took part directly in the doctoral dissertation defense.
For reference: The University of Münster is one of the world’s leading universities. In the 2026 international rankings, it was placed 195th in the THE World University Rankings, 370th in the QS World University Rankings, and 151–200th in the ARWU ranking.
This achievement is a source of great pride not only for Sanjar Islamov, but also for Termez State University and the scientific community of Uzbekistan as a whole!
