13 Student Dormitories Commissioned Ahead of the 35th Anniversary of Independence

In particular, extensive efforts are being undertaken to create favourable conditions not only for students’ education, but also for their accommodation, meaningful use of their free time, and their spiritual and physical development.
As a logical continuation of these efforts, another important development has taken place in the higher education system on the eve of the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
13 Student Dormitories Commissioned
On August 24, 2026, the commissioning process began for 13 newly constructed and renovated student dormitories with a total capacity of 6,200 places, as well as educational buildings with a total capacity of 4,000 places in different regions of the country.
These projects are aimed at creating modern educational and residential infrastructure for the country’s youth and further expanding comfortable conditions for students studying at higher education institutions.
One of the central events was the grand opening of a new student dormitory at the Turtkul Faculty of Tashkent State University of Economics, built in accordance with all modern requirements.
The event was attended by Amanbay Orinbayev, Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan; Kongratbay Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation; Ilhomboy Khudaybergenov, Hokim of Turtkul District; Tulkin Teshabayev, Rector of Tashkent State University of Economics; representatives of state and public organizations; professors and teachers; students and their parents; as well as representatives of the mass media.
New Facilities — New Opportunities for Young People
As part of the event, a live telebridge was held with higher education institutions in different regions of the country, where the commissioning of new student dormitories and educational infrastructure facilities was officially launched.
In particular, student dormitories were opened at the following higher education institutions:
- Karakalpak State University;
- Karakalpak Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnologies;
- Nukus Branch of Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine;
- Turtkul Faculty of Tashkent State University of Economics;
- Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies;
- Namangan State University;
- Samarkand State Medical University;
- Samarkand Institute of Agro-Innovations and Research;
- Gulistan State Pedagogical Institute;
- Kokand State University;
- Urgench State University;
- Urgench State Medical Institute;
- Tashkent State University of Economics.
The new and renovated student dormitories have been equipped in accordance with modern requirements and are designed to provide students with the necessary conditions for comfortable and safe living.
Development of Educational Infrastructure — A Key Priority
Speakers at the event highlighted the high level of attention being paid to young people in Uzbekistan, as well as the systematic reforms aimed at strengthening the material and technical capacity of higher education institutions and developing modern educational infrastructure.
As noted, the construction of modern student dormitories and new educational buildings not only provides students with decent conditions for living and studying, but also creates broad opportunities for the meaningful organisation of their free time, the development of their academic and creative potential, and their active participation in public life.
Most importantly, such infrastructure projects contribute to improving the quality of education at higher education institutions and creating the necessary environment for training competitive professionals equipped with modern knowledge and skills.
The facilities being commissioned on the eve of the 35th anniversary of independence represent another practical expression of the broad opportunities being created for young people in Uzbekistan. They will contribute to ensuring that students receive quality education and pursue their studies in decent and comfortable conditions.
