Representing Uzbekistan in the 63 kg weight category, Urgench State University student Quvonchbek Ismoilov faced Russian wrestler Salim Karmakhov in the final.
In a tense and hard-fought bout, our compatriot secured a 9–7 victory, earning the prestigious title of world champion.
On his way to the final, Quvonchbek Ismoilov defeated China’s Zhaojian Wang 14–5, Finland’s Matias Arpyanen 9–8, Azerbaijan’s Tural Ahmadov 3–2, and Ecuador’s Veliz Carrasedo 3–2.
This outstanding achievement is another vivid reflection of the attention being devoted in Uzbekistan to the development of sports and youth, as well as the strong potential of our talented young people on the international stage.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan warmly congratulated the young world champion on this remarkable victory.
