Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The meeting focused on preparations for the new academic year, training competitive specialists for the fuel and energy sector, expanding dual education, attracting foreign investment, and organizing events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prosecutor General Salom Samadov, First Deputy Minister of Energy Umid Mamadaminov, as well as representatives of relevant ministries, government agencies, and major industry enterprises.

Special Focus on Training Specialists for the Energy Sector

It was noted that 17,780 students are currently enrolled in energy-related programmes at 39 higher education institutions. Instructions were given to further integrate educational programmes with industry, modernize laboratories and training facilities in line with current standards, and expand students' practical training at energy enterprises.

In addition, beginning with the new academic year, at least half of third-year students and all fourth-year students enrolled in energy-related programmes are to be covered by the dual education system.

Implementation of Investment Projects

The meeting noted that under the 2026 Investment Programme, 22 projects are expected to attract and utilize US$120 million in foreign investment.

During the first half of the current year, US$43.6 million in foreign investment was attracted, achieving 122 percent of the planned target.

Delays in several projects were critically reviewed. Relevant officials were instructed to conduct a comprehensive inventory of all investment and grant projects, ensure that all information is uploaded to the invest.edu.uz platform, and develop an investment portfolio for each higher education institution.

Preparations for the New Academic Year

It was emphasized that more than 250,000 applicants are expected to be admitted to bachelor's and master's programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year. In line with labour market demands, training will also be launched in 31 new bachelor's programmes and 23 new master's specializations.

Accordingly, higher education institutions were instructed to ensure that curricula, academic staff, classrooms, laboratories, LMS platforms, and learning resources are fully prepared before the start of the new academic year.

Preparations for the 35th Anniversary of Independence

The meeting also outlined tasks to organize nationwide events marking the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the main slogan:

"One Motherland, One Nation — Together We Build a New Life and a Better Future!"

Institutions were also instructed to conduct "Independence Lessons", organize spiritual and educational activities, and actively engage young people in the nationwide "35,000 Initiatives" programme.

Concluding the meeting, the Minister emphasized the personal responsibility of the heads of higher education institutions for ensuring the timely and high-quality implementation of all assigned tasks.
