24 Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan Enter the Top 1000 of THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026

This ranking assesses higher education institutions’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including their performance in education, research, institutional governance, social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and international cooperation.
Notably, 50 higher education institutions from Uzbekistan were included in the 2026 edition of the ranking. Among them, 24 institutions secured positions within the world’s Top 1000 universities. This achievement reflects the consistent efforts undertaken to embed sustainable development principles within the country’s higher education system and to strengthen the international standing of Uzbek universities.
The 24 higher education organizations that recorded the highest results in the ranking, among which two universities were noted at the top of the ranking - 101-200 places:

- Tashkent State Technical University — 5th in the world for Affordable and Clean Energy;
- Fergana Polytechnic Institute — 6th in the world for Affordable and Clean Energy;
- National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan — 20th in the world for Gender Equality;
- Termez State University — 36th in the world for Affordable and Clean Energy;
- Tashkent University of Information Technologies — 48th in the world for Affordable and Clean Energy;
- Tashkent State Medical University — 81st in the world for Good Health and Well-being;
- Samarkand State Medical University — 82nd in the world for Good Health and Well-being.
For reference, Uzbekistan was represented by 12 higher education institutions in 2021, 30 in 2022, 47 in 2023, 53 in 2024, and 59 in 2025 in the THE Impact Rankings.
