National Forum on Enhancing the English Language Teacher Education System Held in Uzbekistan

A National Forum titled “Accelerating the Reform of English Language Teacher Education in Uzbekistan” was organized through the collaboration of British Council, the UK International Development Programme, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, and the Uzbekistan National Pedagogical Institute under the Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami.
The forum focused on discussing modern models of English language teacher education, improving teacher training curricula in line with international standards, expanding the use of digital technologies in education, developing effective mechanisms for quality assurance, and integrating international best practices into the national education system.
As part of the forum, an agreement was signed to introduce PRESETT, a new national English language teacher education programme developed under the British Council’s “Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA)” initiative, across pedagogical higher education institutions throughout the country.
