During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan in the fields of higher education, science, and innovation, as well as efforts aimed at improving the quality of education, expanding international academic cooperation, and supporting research activities.
The sides discussed establishing cooperation in engineering and technology through Rowan University’s Twin Track program, advancing biomedical and medical education, enhancing the innovation and investment ecosystem, and introducing best practices in integrating education, science, and the economy into Uzbekistan.
Particular attention was paid to Rowan University’s strong potential in medical education. The university is among the few higher education institutions in the United States that offer MD (Doctor of Medicine), DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), and DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree programs. In addition, in 2025, the university launched the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine, the only veterinary school in the state of New Jersey.
Rowan University is widely recognized as a leading example of the “entrepreneurial university” model in the United States. The university has extensive experience in supporting local startups, fostering venture capital development, and financing educational initiatives.
The meeting also included discussions on applying this experience within Uzbekistan’s higher education institutions and implementing investment projects in the social sector.
It was noted that Rowan University has gained international recognition for providing high-quality education at relatively affordable costs, an approach that aligns closely with Uzbekistan’s goal of expanding access to quality education for broader segments of the population.
Beginning with the 2026–2027 academic year, joint “3+1” bachelor’s and “1+1” master’s degree programs will be launched through the Rowan University Center operating at the International Nordic University.
This partnership is expected to further strengthen academic ties between Uzbekistan and the United States, contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists in line with international standards, and provide new momentum for the development of science and innovation in Uzbekistan.
