The Tenth Meeting of Education Ministers of SCO Member States Was Held

The event was organized under the theme: “Strengthening Mutual Trust through Education, Expanding Cooperation and the Knowledge Space, and Shaping the Shared Future of SCO Development.” Delegations from Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the meeting.
The meeting was opened with welcoming remarks by the Minister of Education of Belarus, Andrey Ivanets, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, Suhel Khan.
In his address, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, Kongratbay Sharipov, highlighted the reforms being implemented in the country’s higher education and science sectors, efforts to expand access to higher education, improve educational quality in line with international standards, and increase youth participation in innovation activities.
During the meeting, participants discussed the current state of national education systems, ongoing reforms, and priority areas for cooperation in education and science for the period 2027–2029.
In their speeches, the heads of delegations placed particular emphasis on improving the quality of education, expanding academic mobility, introducing digital learning technologies, strengthening cooperation in scientific research, and supporting the innovative engagement of young people.
The Uzbek delegation presented information on the large-scale reforms being carried out in the fields of higher education, science, and innovation, ongoing efforts to expand international cooperation, and initiatives aimed at increasing participation in SCO educational projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the protocol of the tenth meeting of education ministers of SCO member states was signed, and agreements were reached to further strengthen multilateral cooperation in education and science.
As part of the event, the heads of delegations of SCO member states participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Victory Monument located in Minsk’s Victory Square. During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the victims of the Second World War.
