During the dialogue, the parties noted that while digitalization processes in the education system have accelerated in recent years, the risk of cyberattacks on information systems and sensitive databases has also increased. In this regard, the implementation of the most modern and effective mechanisms for protecting information infrastructure in the sector was discussed.
Following the discussion, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation and the "Cybersecurity Center" signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at improving information security in the field of education. It was particularly emphasized that ensuring the digital security of the educational environment is a necessity of the modern era.
The memorandum envisions the establishment of a specialized cybersecurity unit, "CERT-EDU," for the higher education sector. It also covers enhancing information exchange, ensuring student internships and employment, increasing the qualifications of specialists, improving academic curricula, and jointly developing scientific research.
Minister Kongratbay Sharipov emphasized that this partnership will serve not only to protect the system technically but also to create a pool of highly qualified personnel for the labor market who possess "digital hygiene" and cyber-protection skills.
