As noted during the meeting, in order to strengthen the country’s defense capability, ensure the staffing of troops with qualified commanders during military operations, reinforce military specialty skills, and train officers capable of operating modern weapons and equipment, a total of 1,068 reserve and standby officers are currently being trained in 33 fields at the Military Training Center of the National University of Uzbekistan and the Military Education Faculty of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami, in accordance with existing legislation.
Taking into account modern threats, the curricula have been enriched with content reflecting ongoing reforms in the Armed Forces, new combat methods, modern weapons and military equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, robotic systems, and methods of protection against them. More than 200 training and material-technical facilities have been established at educational institutions, and practical exercises are being conducted at field training grounds.
Students who successfully complete military training are awarded the rank of “Lieutenant” and are either called up for active military service or transferred to the reserve or standby forces. At the same time, the study and law enforcement practice have revealed certain issues, including insufficient guarantees of the rights of women wishing to undergo military training, as well as the lack of clearly defined mechanisms for medical examinations and territorial principles.
The senators also discussed issues related to improving the current legal framework and establishing an effective probation supervision system, and adopted relevant decisions.
