The III Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Was Held

The forum, held at the Tajik State Pedagogical University named after S. Ayni, was attended by the heads of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, rectors of leading higher education institutions of both countries, scientists, and experts.
The opening ceremony of the event was attended by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rahim Saidzoda, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kungratbay Sharipov, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Tajikistan, Ergash Shoismatov. During the forum, issues regarding the ongoing reforms in the higher education systems of both countries, scientific research, and innovative development were discussed.
In his speech, Minister Kungratbay Sharipov emphasized that cooperation in higher education between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan has been consistently developing in recent years. He noted that the signing of an agreement on cooperation in higher education and science between the governments of the two countries in 2018 took relations in this direction to a new level.
Today, more than 100 cooperation agreements and memorandums are active between the higher education institutions of the two states. Furthermore, students are being trained within the framework of joint educational programs, and academic exchange is consistently developing.
The Minister also specifically noted that currently, over 700 students who are citizens of Tajikistan are studying at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, and scientific and educational ties between the universities of the two countries are increasingly expanding.
At the plenary session of the forum, special attention was paid to such pressing issues as further expanding academic cooperation between higher education institutions, launching joint educational programs, conducting joint scientific research, and developing academic exchange among students and teaching staff.
