ToshTech (Tashkent University of Technology) Launched as a New-Generation Engineering Ecosystem
2026-01-26 16:00:00 / News of ministry

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov; the Minister of Energy, Jo‘rabek Mirzamahmudov; as well as international partners — representatives of Constructor University Bremen (Germany) and Boston Consulting Group (USA); and leaders of major industrial and energy companies.
ToshTech is a large-scale national project within Uzbekistan’s higher education system, serving as an institutional platform for STEM disciplines, technological entrepreneurship, and knowledge and technology transfer.
Academic Programs
The university will offer bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in engineering and technology fields in Uzbek, Russian, and English.
Within the first four years, five high-demand schools (faculties) will be launched:
-
Electrical Engineering
-
Industrial Mechanical & Automotive Engineering
-
Materials Science & Engineering
-
Advanced Engineering & Emerging Technologies
-
Engineering & Management
In the first year, a General Engineering Bachelor’s program will be introduced, with specialization selection beginning in the second or third year.
The educational model emphasizes a high proportion of practical training. From the early stages, students will engage in real industrial projects and engineering challenges. The learning model incorporates project-based learning, case-based learning, and elements of a dual education system in close cooperation with industry.
International Cooperation
The Foundation program has been developed with the academic participation of Constructor University Bremen and fully complies with international engineering education standards. This partnership ensures curriculum quality, assessment and academic supervision mechanisms, faculty development, and academic exchange.
The university also aims to establish joint bachelor’s and master’s programs in cooperation with leading universities in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The development concept, institutional model, and strategic architecture of ToshTech’s academic programs were designed with expert support from Boston Consulting Group, which continues to assist in shaping governance structures, industry integration, competence centers, and digital learning infrastructure.
Systemic Industry Integration
As part of the opening ceremony, memoranda of understanding were signed between ToshTech and major sectoral organizations, including:
-
Uzbekistan Technological Metals Plant JSC
-
ACWA Power
-
Thermal Power Plants JSC
-
Yashil Energiya LLC
-
Regional Electric Networks JSC
-
National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC
-
O‘zenergoinjiniring JSC
These partnerships will facilitate internships, industrial placements, joint projects, and employment pathways for graduates.
Addressing National Needs
Amid accelerated technological transformation and industrial modernization, Uzbekistan’s economy is experiencing a growing demand for highly qualified engineers. According to expert forecasts, approximately 35,000 engineers will be required across key sectors over the next decade. ToshTech is designed to address this demand by training modern engineering professionals for energy, industry, mechanical engineering, and high-tech manufacturing sectors.
Infrastructure and Initial Outcomes
The necessary infrastructure has been established to ensure the university’s full operational launch in September 2026. The first phase of the campus construction was completed in December 2025.
During the first admission cycle for the Foundation program, more than 650 applications were received, and 200 students were selected.
