The meeting was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov; the Director of the Agency for Vocational Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Azimjon Khusanov; the GIZ Country Director in Uzbekistan, Joachim Fritz; and the Project Advisor for “Green Skills for a Green Economy in Central Asia,” Jahongir Juraev.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed the activities being implemented under the project, its priority areas, and the next practical steps. They emphasized GIZ’s significant role in supporting institutional reforms in Uzbekistan and paid particular attention to the modernization of the vocational education system, the expansion of dual education, and the development of green skills.
The meeting also addressed the alignment of the project with the activities of the newly established Agency for Vocational Education, the adaptation of curricula to labor market demands, and the strengthening of cooperation to increase employment opportunities in green economy sectors.
The parties agreed to develop a clear, phased action plan for project implementation and to ensure the efficient use of allocated grant funds.
As part of the meeting, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on the implementation of the regional project “Green Skills for a Green Economy in Central Asia.” The agreement is aimed at developing the vocational education system during 2025–2028, expanding dual education, and training specialists equipped with modern competencies for green economy sectors.
