Tourism Development Activities of Higher Education Institutions in 2025 in Figures

I. Implemented Activities
1. In cooperation with tour operators, the number of tourism packages developed for 30 assigned districts and cities based on their historical background, tourism attractions, and unique characteristics reached 194.
For example: the National University of Uzbekistan developed tourism packages titled “Mojrum Arch Tree”, “Vacation in Tuzkon”, and “One Day in Forish”, while Urgench State University developed the tourism package “Pahlavon Mahmud — an Uzbek hero and an undefeated wrestler.”, which includes key tourist attractions of the region.
2. A total of 6,809 pieces of content about the tourism potential, history, and characteristics of districts and cities were produced in foreign languages, including 1,182 informational materials, 1,272 videos, and 4,355 photo materials.
For reference: tourism materials about Rishton district were translated into English, Arabic, Persian, Malay, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Urdu, Indonesian, Dari, Pashto, and Turkish. The electronic tourism platform “Forish Ethnomedia Tourism” (www.forishtour.com) was also launched.
New information about 88 tourism sites in districts was added to Google Maps. Information about 90 tourism sites was published on Wikipedia in Uzbek, Russian, and English, while information about 35 sites was posted on other digital platforms. For instance, details about the natural monuments of Chust district and the Machay cave in Boysun district were added to Google Maps and Wikipedia.
Modern information technologies are actively used to promote regional tourism potential internationally. Researchers from the Faculty of Economics and Tourism of Bukhara State University launched the country’s first "Inclusive Tourism" mobile application and interactive map.
3. In the assigned regions, 70 short-term training courses for tourism professionals and 180 internship programs at tourism sites were organized with the participation of 1,536 students.
For example: Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies conducted a short-term training course titled “Service Standards and Customer Relations” for 600 service sector workers in Rishton district and organized the Second International Symposium “The Silk Road as a Symbol of Sustainable Tourism” in cooperation with Japan’s Rissho University.
Students from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mining of Termez State Engineering and Agrotechnology University completed a two-week summer internship at the Darband training and practice base in Boysun district.
Tashkent State Transport University, in cooperation with “Uztemiryulyolovchi” JSC, organized training courses for railway attendants and professional development courses in railway tourism services, which were completed by 368 employees.
A four-week “Young Guides School” program was implemented in 7 higher education institutions with the participation of 378 students.
Within the framework of the VET4UZ project, short-term courses titled “Fundamentals of Tourism Entrepreneurship” and “Hotel Business” were conducted in Kogon and Romitan districts in cooperation with the Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training (SFUVET).
4. 11 higher education institutions organized events aimed at attracting at least 500 tourists each. In total, 40 scientific forums, 42 international scientific conferences, 48 ethno-festivals, 32 summer and winter camps, 7 competitions, and 133 seminars and training sessions were held.
For example, the National University of Uzbekistan organized the "II- International Youth and Student Zomin Forum" under the slogan “Youth and Ethnotourism”, the Arnasoy Youth Tourism Festival under the slogan “Arnasoy Charm”, and the tourism campaign “Visit Forish!” in Mojrum village of Forish district. Archaeological and ethnographic field research is also being conducted in Mojrum village.
The II- International Festival “Mizdakhan – Sacred and Mysterious Place” was held at the ancient Mizdakhan complex in Khojayli district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, while the III- International Festival “Echo of the Desert” took place in Ellikkala district on October 4–5, 2025.
For information: Within the framework of the festival, the “Zakovat” intellectual game for students, the “Taqiya” national costume exhibition, and the Second International Scientific and Practical Conference “Enhancing Cultural Awareness and Developing Ecologically Sustainable Tourism” were organized.
On October 26, 2025, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan hosted an international event titled “Prospects for the Development of Tourism and Scientific-Cultural Relations between Uzbekistan and Indonesia”, attended by 130 Indonesian participants.
5. Professors, researchers, and talented students are conducting 16 research projects worth 12.72 billion UZS aimed at studying historical and cultural sites of districts and developing tourism.
For example: a website was created for Zomin district, a mobile application was developed, VR-3D tourist routes were designed for each site, and a 3D visual animation of the lost architectural object “Miq Fortress” was produced. The project is available at https://zomintour.uz and received a software certificate DGU 49187 “ZaaminTour Innovative Tourism Platform”.
6. From January to December 2025, as a result of the implemented activities in 30 districts and cities, 7,310 foreign tourists and 147,594 domestic tourists were attracted.
Within the framework of the “Student Travel” project, interregional student trips and environmental expeditions were organized during the Aral Tourism Week.
Under the program “Travel Across Uzbekistan”, 283,191 university students and 69,498 school students visited tourism destinations from January to November.
In preparation for the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, cultural and educational events titled “Priceless Heritage of Uzbekistan” were held abroad.
For information: From January to September, these events were organized in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Norway, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia.
Additionally, 578 talented students studying service-related fields and mastering foreign languages completed summer internships in leading tourism countries.
