Prospects for cooperation in higher education and scientific-technological partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan discussed

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the fields of higher education and science, existing joint projects, academic exchange programs, professional development of faculty members, expansion of Japanese language teaching in universities, as well as the advancement of joint scientific research.
Minister Sharipov emphasized that Uzbekistan is currently prioritizing the expansion and deepening of mutually beneficial programs in areas such as engineering and technology, information and digital technologies, industrial technologies, medicine, innovative developments, mechanical engineering, energy, renewable energy sources, geology, architecture and construction.
The parties expressed readiness to further strengthen cooperation in several areas, including accelerating practical steps toward establishing a joint university in Uzbekistan, signing new memorandums with leading Japanese universities, expanding the exchange of students, researchers and scholars, inviting Japanese professors for short-term and long-term lectures and seminars, and enhancing joint scientific-technological research projects.
Cooperation in the field of vocational education was also discussed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue strengthening Uzbekistan–Japan relations and to elevate cooperation between the higher education institutions of the two countries to a new stage.
