During the meeting, the parties discussed the activities of the Goethe-Institut in Uzbekistan, including efforts to promote German language teaching in higher and vocational education institutions, professional development of teachers, and the provision of educational institutions with learning materials and modern technical resources.
The meeting also reviewed the results of summer internships organized in cooperation with tourism and hospitality technical colleges in St. Peter-Ording, Germany. Special attention was given to expanding opportunities for scholarships and advanced training for German language teachers.
Currently, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany covers more than 40 higher education institutions, which maintain partnerships with over 55 German universities and research organizations through more than 110 agreements and memorandums. Over 1,000 Uzbek students are currently studying at German universities.
Minister Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov emphasized the growing demand for learning German in Uzbekistan — today, more than 11,000 students at 20 higher education institutions study German as their primary or secondary foreign language. Therefore, new initiatives are planned in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut aimed at updating curricula, improving teacher qualifications, and modernizing educational resources.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation at the institutional level and to implement joint projects aimed at further developing German language education and vocational training in Uzbekistan.
