The public hearings took place at a site located on Mergancha Street in the Mergancha mahalla of Urgut District, on the initiative of SAM-NEGIN LLC. The event was attended by representatives of the project organization, residents of the adjacent areas, as well as specialists from the Samarkand Regional Branch of the State Institution “Center for State Environmental Expertise.”

According to the project, it is planned to carry out the operation of a carpet production workshop at this site. During the public hearings, potential environmental impacts, issues of environmental safety, and compliance with sanitary requirements were discussed.

In particular, responsible employees of the customer enterprise were given relevant instructions in accordance with Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PF–46 dated December 30, 2021, regarding the landscaping of the adjacent territory of the facility, as well as the preservation and prevention of damage to existing trees. It was also noted that, in accordance with Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 787 dated October 2, 2018, it is necessary to organize a separate area for the collection of household waste and to install 1–2 containers for solid household waste at a distance of no more than 10 meters from each other.

It was separately emphasized that it is necessary to conduct an inventory of all trees in advance within the construction area and to strictly comply with all requirements and conditions established in the conclusion of the state environmental expertise.

Following the public hearings, taking into account the opinions and proposals expressed by the participants, additional recommendations were provided. Based on the results of the discussions, the project was approved with the consent of all participants.
