This project is one of the major initiatives aimed at developing renewable energy sources, increasing the sustainability of energy supply, and strengthening the country’s environmental balance. According to the project concept, the construction of the power plant will be carried out in two phases and will include a number of important infrastructure facilities.
Project components
During the public discussion, the technical parameters of the project were presented. In particular, the first phase предусматривает the construction of:
-
a BESS energy storage system with a capacity of 100 MW;
-
14 wind turbines;
-
two power transmission lines with lengths of 14 km and 48 km.
The second phase plans the construction of:
-
a solar power plant with a capacity of 123 MW;
-
28 wind turbines with a total capacity of 220 MW.
These details are contained in the project documentation submitted by Business Advanced Experts LLC.
Environmental compliance
The main purpose of the event was to inform the population about the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure in the project implementation area, to familiarize them with the project materials, to discuss environmental safety issues, and to take public opinion into account.
The public hearings were attended by representatives of local authorities, environmental specialists, project developers, public activists, and residents of nearby settlements. During the discussion, participants asked questions of interest and expressed their comments and proposals regarding environmental conclusions and the potential impacts of the project’s implementation.
A step toward sustainable development
The “Voltalia” hybrid power plant will not only increase electricity generation volumes, but will also contribute to:
-
reducing carbon emissions;
-
strengthening environmental safety;
-
the socio-economic development of the region;
-
the creation of new jobs.
The project is being implemented in accordance with the decisions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the development of renewable energy.
