The hearings took place in the Kurgantepa, Khojaabad, Jalalkuduk, Altinkul, Andijan, and Asaka districts. Participants were provided with detailed information about the project’s content, its main directions, expected outcomes, and potential environmental impacts.
The event was attended by representatives of the regional administration and district departments of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, officials from local hokimiyats, staff of regional and district branches of “Suvta’minot” JSC, specialists from “Nazar Business and Technology” LLC, ADB experts, environmental engineers, chairpersons of mahalla citizens’ assemblies, NGO representatives, entrepreneurs, and local residents.
During the hearings, the following issues were discussed:
• the placement of water supply networks and facilities;
• the progress of construction and reconstruction work, as well as safety measures;
• the environmental monitoring system and risk mitigation mechanisms;
• the project’s potential environmental impact and measures to minimize it;
• improvements in sanitary conditions, enhanced service quality, and conveniences created for the population.
Questions, suggestions, and comments received from residents were documented in writing and submitted for inclusion in the project documentation.
The public hearings ensured transparency and openness of the project and contributed to its alignment with environmental requirements while considering local community interests. As a result, the project was further refined, additional environmental safety proposals were developed, and support from the local community was strengthened.
