The event was attended by representatives of the center of State ecological expertise under the ministry of ecology, environmental protection and climate change, the district local administration, the environmental inspection, departments of construction and communications, public utilities, ecology and landscaping, as well as specialists in agriculture, water management, power grids, water supply, district cadastral services, and representatives of local communities (mahalla).
During the hearings, it was noted that the feasibility study, engineering, and environmental research for the project are being conducted in accordance with international standards. It was emphasized that the engineering and environmental analysis of the project is being carried out by Juru Energy Consulting LLC, and that ensuring occupational safety, environmental protection, and safeguarding public interests are among the project’s top priorities.
In addition, participants highlighted the importance of reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere during the construction process, preventing negative impacts on flora and fauna during earthworks, and ensuring continuous monitoring of all activities through an environmental monitoring system.
For reference: The project is being implemented in cooperation between JSC “National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan” and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Currently, the Project Evaluation Document (DPP) is being developed. According to the project, a 500 kV overhead power transmission line with a total length of 96 kilometers will be built — from the “New Syrdarya” substation in the Syrdarya region to the “Ring” substation in the Tashkent region.
The main goal of the project is to ensure the reliability of the national power system, reduce power supply interruptions, and provide stable energy supply to the regions.
Upon completion, the project is expected to stabilize power supply in the Syrdarya and Tashkent regions, achieve a more balanced load distribution across the power system, and improve the quality and sustainability of electricity supply for both the population and enterprises.
