Telecommunication infrastructure - at a new stage of development
The creation of a modern telecommunications infrastructure is one of the most important factors in the development of the digital economy. In this context, the Ministry of Digital Technologies is carrying out large-scale work.
At the end of 2022, the total bandwidth of international communication channels is 3,200 Gbps.
The total throughput at the level of regions and districts has been increased 1.5 times.
In order to develop telecommunications networks, an additional 50,000 kilometers of fiber optic lines were laid, and as a result, the total length was increased to 170,000 kilometers, and about 80 percent of the settlements received access to high-speed communications. In subsequent years, work will continue to expand fiber-optic communication lines. The total number of broadband access ports for the population has been increased to 4.6 million.
In order to develop mobile communications, 8,300 stations were installed in 2022. Thus, their total number has been increased to 54,200 units, the level of mobile communication coverage in the republic has reached 99 percent, the number of mobile communication subscribers is 31.3 million, mobile broadband Internet coverage has reached 98 percent. As a result, the number of high-speed mobile Internet users increased by 8 million over the past period, 60 percent of international and national highways are provided with mobile communication coverage, and the possibilities of using the Internet for residents and tourists have been expanded.
The tariff for operators and providers for Internet services has been reduced by 42.9 percent compared to the same period last year and amounts to 30.0 thousand soums per 1 Mbps.
To date, 98 percent of settlements have received access to mobile Internet. Approximately 65 percent of households are connected to high-speed internet.
In 2022, 2 large data centers were built, and the existing data center was expanded.
Within the framework of the project “Creation of a data processing and storage center of JSC Uzbektelecom”, a data processing and storage center was built consisting of 70 cabinets, 149 blade servers and a data storage system for 5 Petabytes. Also, the existing data center of JSC "Uzbektelecom" was expanded by 40 blade servers and 5 Petabytes of data storage system.
In the third quarter of 2022, the construction of a single center for processing and storing data of the Electronic Government system was completed in the Tashkent region, designed according to the standard
TIER 3 of the international organization "Uptime Institute". The data center consists of 300 cabinets, 580 servers and a 20 petabyte storage system.
In order to accelerate the development of digital infrastructure, overcome the digital divide between cities and rural areas, and improve the quality of services provided, a number of tasks have been identified.
In subsequent years, work will be carried out to provide all settlements of the republic with a fiber-optic network, access to all households with high-speed Internet, coverage of all highways of international and national importance with mobile Internet.
Data storage and processing centers will be built in Bukhara, Ferghana and Tashkent regions.
The attention given by the head of state to this area is aimed at achieving the main goal - the provision of high-quality, modern telecommunications and digital services to the population, the creation of all opportunities for the development of the digital economy.
