According to Bahodir Fayzullaev, head of department at the Committee, inspections were carried out regarding the use of X-ray equipment across the country.
– In Uzbekistan, X-ray equipment is widely used to provide medical services to the population, – said B. Fayzullaev. – Our inspections revealed that approximately 2,500 X-ray machines are in use, and in some cases, they are being operated without obtaining the required authorization.
X-ray equipment is a critical diagnostic tool that emits ionizing radiation. The process of obtaining authorization ensures that radiation safety rules are being followed. Without proper regulatory oversight, healthcare personnel and patients may be exposed to harmful effects such as free radicals, which can increase the risk of cancer. Prolonged radiation exposure can lead to irreversible changes in human tissues and trigger serious somatic and genetic diseases.
In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Licensing, Permits, and Notification Procedures”, it is mandatory to obtain a permit to operate X-ray machines. Additionally, relevant procedures are outlined in a decree by the Cabinet of Ministers. Violations, including the use of counterfeit documents to obtain a permit, can result in a fine of up to 150 times the base calculation rate.
The Committee stands ready to provide legal and methodological assistance related to obtaining permits and urges all stakeholders to strictly follow the established legislative procedures.
