The Head of the Department of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Technical Sciences Olimjon Jurayev, took part in this prestigious event. O. Jurayev has been fruitfully working as an expert at the Senate Committee on Defense and Security for many years and makes a worthy contribution on behalf of our Committee to discussions related to state security and defense.
During the event, the courage of the people of Uzbekistan in the fight against fascism during World War II, as well as their dedication on the front and in the rear, were particularly emphasized. New figures revealed as a result of recent scientific research — the number of Uzbekistanis mobilized to the front reached 1,951,000 (which was almost a third of the population at that time), over 538,000 of our compatriots died, and more than 158,000 went missing — once again reminded us of how sacred this memory is.
Also at the conference, the selflessness of our people in shifting the economy to a military footing, as well as the humanitarian aid provided to the evacuated population and enterprises relocated to our republic, were highly praised. The presentation of the book-album published in Italy, "IL Contributo del popolo Dell’ Uzbekistan alla vittoria nella seconda guerra mondiale" (The Contribution of the People of Uzbekistan to the Victory over Fascism in World War II), held within the framework of the conference, is also an example of the high attention of the world community to the history of our country.
Preserving historical memory, glorifying the courage of our ancestors, and appreciating today's peaceful sky is the sacred duty of each of us. The team of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety bows its head before the memory of all our heroes who gave their lives for peace, and congratulates our compatriots on the upcoming Day of Memory and Honor.
