So, which organizations are responsible for industrial and radiation safety in the neighboring countries of the region? Let's take a brief look at the Central Asian experience:
🇰🇿 Republic of Kazakhstan In Kazakhstan, due to the scale of these sectors, they are divided into the jurisdiction of two separate agencies:
-
Industrial safety: Coordinated by the Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
-
Nuclear and radiation safety: Supervised by the Committee of Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control under the Ministry of Energy.
🇹🇯 Republic of Tajikistan In Tajikistan, responsibility is also distributed depending on the specifics of the industry:
-
Control of industrial facilities: Carried out by the Main Directorate of State Supervision of Safe Conduct of Work in Industry and Mining (Sanotnazorat).
-
Radiation safety: Entrusted to the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency under the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
🇰🇬 Kyrgyz Republic In fraternal Kyrgyzstan, compliance with industrial and environmental safety standards, as well as radiation safety issues, are mainly coordinated by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision.
🇹🇲 Republic of Turkmenistan Industrial safety, technical supervision, and control over radiation sources are jointly carried out by the Main State Service "Türkmenstandartlary". In particular, its Department of Labor and Subsoil Protection is responsible for monitoring hazardous industrial facilities and the safe storage of ionizing radiation sources.
🛡 A Shared Goal Although the names and structural divisions of the responsible agencies in the countries of the region differ, the primary goal remains the same: ensuring the safety of human life, environmental purity, and the reliable operation of strategic industrial facilities.
The Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of Uzbekistan will continue its systematic work to exchange experiences with colleagues in neighboring republics and international organizations, strengthening the safety chain on a regional scale.
