About the Ministry

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a public administration body responsible for implementing a unified state policy in the field of food security. On February 12, 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan was reorganized into two separate ministries: the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Water Resources.
The key areas of activity of the Ministry include:

implementation of a unified state policy in the fields of agriculture and food security, including the digitalization of the sector, the introduction of modern information and communication technologies, the application of market principles in relations among agricultural entities, as well as the adoption of best practices, scientific achievements, and modern resource-saving and intensive agrotechnologies;

promotion of the development of value-added chains for agricultural and food products through the expansion of modern cooperative relations in the production, storage, processing, and marketing of agricultural and food products;

implementation of measures to widely introduce the cluster model of agribusiness, improvement of the organizational, legal, and economic foundations of clustering processes, and support for the implementation of investment projects aimed at the establishment and development of clusters in agricultural sectors;

coordination of state support measures for agriculture aimed at ensuring timely financing of agrotechnical activities, enhancing the financial stability of agricultural producers, increasing the productivity of low-yield lands, ensuring food security, and expanding exports of agricultural products;

placement of agricultural crops and monitoring of the use of agricultural land, as well as the sowing and cultivation of agricultural crops;

conducting soil bonitation, determining the normative value of agricultural land, and carrying out soil science and geobotanical research;

promotion of agricultural mechanization and deep processing of agricultural products through the development of modern financial services and expanded access to high-quality agricultural machinery;

establishment of a modern system for the preparation, use, and export of agricultural crop seeds, as well as the organization and development of primary seed production of domestic and foreign breeding varieties, including biotechnological varieties;

implementation of a unified state policy in the field of plant protection, including systematic measures to control pests and weeds, provision of agrochemical services, and soil conservation;

ensuring systematic integration of education, science, and agricultural production, as well as training, retraining, and advanced professional development of personnel, taking into account current and future demand for highly qualified specialists in agricultural sectors;

coordination and regulation of the activities of all interested organizations within the framework of organic production and the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (Global G.A.P.);

exercising effective state control over the organization of the use and protection of agricultural land.
