Press Conference on Volunteer Activities Held
With the establishment of legal foundations for volunteer activities in our country, systematic efforts are being made to develop this field. Currently, over 200 volunteer groups are actively operating, engaging more than 102,000 young people.
At the initiative of the Uzbekistan Volunteers Association and with the support of the Youth Affairs Agency, the "School of Volunteers" was established in regional Youth Centers, where 7,300 young volunteers have been trained. These volunteers have provided assistance to over 100,000 families in need of social protection, people with disabilities, low-income citizens, and elderly individuals through more than 400 social projects.
According to Resolution No. 169 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan dated April 11, 2022, up to 200 times the BHM (Basic Calculation Value) is allocated annually for the best volunteer projects from the extrabudgetary funds of the Youth Affairs Agency.
In June 2023, a competition for supporting volunteer projects in ecology, education, medicine, media, and tourism received 218 project proposals, out of which 70 were selected for funding starting February 2024.
Additionally, in February 2023, the volontyor.uz platform was launched to register volunteers and provide methodological support, with 5,333 active volunteers already registered and five instructional videos available in Uzbek.
A draft law introducing amendments to Uzbekistan’s Volunteer Activities Law was approved by the Legislative Chamber, the Senate, and signed by the President on August 18, 2023.
"Green Space" Initiative
To enhance environmental awareness among youth, the "Youth Hashar" tree-planting campaign was held nationwide as part of the "Green Space" project.
- 17,708 young volunteers participated, including young entrepreneurs, book lovers, bloggers, athletes, artists, and scientists.
- 300 hectares of land were prepared, and over 170,000 trees were planted.
- 700,000 youth took part in ecological events.
Plans for 2024
- February – Training for winners of the best volunteer projects competition.
- March – Funding for 70 projects begins.
- May – Central Asian Youth Volunteer Forum in Tashkent.
- Creation of an official Volunteer Anthem performed by renowned artists.
- Volunteer of the Year 2024 competition in 50 categories.
Throughout the year, seminars, festivals, and educational events will be held for volunteer coordinators and mentors.
