State agencies and public forces are joining hands to combat the evils that threaten the future of our youth. On January 30, a press conference dedicated to this urgent issue was held at the National Cinema Art Palace of Uzbekistan.
Organized in cooperation with the Drug and Firearms Control Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Youth Affairs Agency, and other key ministries, the event focused on the “Comprehensive Month of Rapid Prevention against the spread of Narcotic and Psychotropic substances among Youth”.
The conference had a nationwide reach. While high-ranking officials and media representatives attended in person, representatives from regional, city, and district administrations across the country joined the discussion via online platforms.
Key strategic areas discussed during the conference included:
-
Preventive and warning measures aimed at stopping the spread of drugs among young people;
-
Effective mechanisms for awareness-raising activities in educational institutions and local neighborhoods (“mahallas”);
-
New projects designed to build a strong immunity against harmful habits in the younger generation.
A special emphasis was placed on the role of the media. Experts highlighted that the contribution of journalists and bloggers is invaluable in protecting the youth from drug-related crimes. The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, reaffirming that the fight against drug addiction is not just the responsibility of one organization, but a collective effort of the entire society.
