In 2021, 420 citizens were sent from Uzbekistan to Korea under the E-8 visa program. The program was suspended by the Korean side because some workers did not return to Uzbekistan within the established period after their employment contracts expired.
Following lengthy negotiations, an agreement was reached in 2025 to restore the program.
After it was established that the living conditions of the first 3 citizens who arrived in Korea under this agreement were unsatisfactory, responsible officials of the Migration Agency examined the situation on site. As a result of negotiations with the Korean side, their workplaces and places of residence were changed, and suitable conditions were provided.
