Lukashenko: We Would Like to See Uzbek Families Living in Belarus

During talks in Minsk with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko invited Uzbek citizens, particularly families, to relocate to Belarus to live and work. According to him, Belarus has a strong demand for workers and is prepared to provide opportunities for housing, education, and healthcare.
Lukashenko stated that Belarus needs hardworking and skilled professionals. He therefore encouraged Uzbek citizens not only to come for employment but also to relocate with their families and build a long-term life in the country.
“We would like Uzbek families to come to Belarus and live here. If necessary, they will receive support in healthcare and education. There are opportunities here to work and develop,” the Belarusian President said.
Lukashenko also noted that water resources and land availability remain important issues for Uzbekistan, while Belarus has greater opportunities in these areas. In his view, this creates favorable conditions for aligning the interests of both countries.
The Belarusian President emphasized the mutual respect and trust between the two nations, stating that these relations provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in labour migration and economic development.
These remarks were made during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit to Belarus on 8–9 July. At the conclusion of the visit, the two leaders signed a Declaration on Establishing a Strategic Partnership and exchanged a number of bilateral documents.
Among the signed documents was an intergovernmental agreement on the organized recruitment and admission of Uzbek citizens for temporary employment in Belarus.
