In response to reports circulating on social media under the headline “Could this site in Samarkand really collapse?”, we inform the following.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PF-5416 dated April 16, 2018, certain sites have been assigned in the установленный порядок (due procedure) in order to improve the use of sacred sites and pilgrimage locations, as well as to enhance their effective management. This is also reflected in the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 708 dated August 28, 2018. Pursuant to this resolution, the “Khoja Doniyor” complex located in Samarkand has been transferred to the “Vaqf” Public Charitable Foundation on the basis of gratuitous use.
At present, control over the technical condition of the site has been established. Relevant organizations have been provided with the necessary information regarding the preservation of the complex, ensuring visitor safety, and creating appropriate conditions for visitors. At the same time, specialists are studying the current condition of the site and are taking appropriate measures to strengthen and improve it where necessary.
