ICT WEEK: Technological cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan to reach a new level

Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies, participated in the forum. He emphasized the importance of strengthening technological cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan and developing practical ties between the two countries’ innovation ecosystems.
The forum addressed the results of bilateral cooperation, the development of the digital community, support for innovative projects, and opportunities for technology companies to expand into new markets.
The event was attended by Kenji Hirata, Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan; Hideo Fuseda, Vice-Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan; Yuta Ichinose, Director of the JETRO Tashkent Office; Kazuhiro Oyoshi, Partner at Headline Asia VC; and Takeru Kawashima, Executive Director of 01Booster Inc.
Technology cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan continues to expand. According to data provided by the forum organizers, the number of Japanese companies holding IT Park resident status increased from two to 25 in less than two years. As of February 2025, 10 resident companies with Japanese capital participation were operating within the IT Park ecosystem, three of which were exporting IT services.
Particular attention was paid to turning bilateral cooperation into tangible results through concrete technology projects, investment partnerships, and the expansion of companies into international markets.
New bilateral agreements and partnerships were also signed during the forum.
The “Uzbek–Japan Digital Community Forum” helped strengthen direct ties between government agencies, investors, and technology companies and identify new opportunities for Japanese companies in Uzbekistan and Uzbek technology companies in the Japanese market.
