On September 22, Uztelecom commissioned two new data centers in Bukhara and Kokand. The facilities were opened by Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, and Kenji Hirata, Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan. The ceremony took place at the company's stand on the first day of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026. The sites are designed to foster the development of artificial intelligence, cloud services, big data processing, and high-performance computing. Government organizations, businesses, and technology companies are granted access to modern computing power without needing to build a similar infrastructure independently.

The new facilities operate within the unified contour of the national cloud platform, UzCloud. The portfolio of cloud services includes computing infrastructure (IaaS), platform solutions (PaaS), software (SaaS), object storage (S3), and backup services (BaaS). Customers pay only for the resources they actually use.

A separate focus is dedicated to artificial intelligence resources under the AI Cloud and GPU-as-a-Service offerings. The data centers in Bukhara and Kokand are equipped with dedicated GPU servers required for training and running artificial intelligence models, machine learning, processing large datasets, image recognition, video analytics, and creating digital twins.

Located more than 300 km from Tashkent, the new data centers are the country's furthest facilities from the capital. Placing computing power across different regions ensures disaster recovery: if a failure occurs at one site, the workload shifts to another.

Both data center projects have received Tier III Design certifications from the Uptime Institute. This certification confirms that the architectural and engineering solutions meet global standards for reliability and fault tolerance. The sites feature redundant cooling and power systems, as well as additional communication channels, allowing equipment maintenance to be carried out without service interruptions.

The data centers are connected to Uztelecom’s backbone network and the national internet traffic exchange point, TAS-IX. Uztelecom's infrastructure is developed in compliance with ISO/IEC 27001, the international standard for information security management. The company also plans to certify its data centers for compliance with the PCI DSS standard, which governs data protection requirements.

The next phase of network development will be the launch of a data center in the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region. This data center project has also been certified by the Uptime Institute for Tier III, with commissioning scheduled for the autumn of 2026. This site will become the fifth in Uztelecom's geographically distributed network and the first where the company, together with Toyota Tsusho, NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, and NEC, will deploy the APN photonic network as part of the IOWN concept. The pilot project was officially launched on the same day by Hideo Fuseda, Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan.
