ANKARA MEETING ON THE CHEMICAL WEAPONS CONVENTION

At the invitation of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), a regional meeting on strengthening chemical safety legislation and its implementation in Central Asia is being held on June 3–4 this year in Ankara, Turkey. The event is attended by O. Djuraev, Head of the Main Directorate of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety; O. Kasimov, Chief Specialist for Monitoring the Implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical and Bacteriological Weapons; and S. Sabokhitdinov, Head of the Legal Department.

During the meeting, participants will discuss the Chemical Weapons Convention and its practical application, UN Security Council Resolution 1540, legal gaps, systemic challenges, and ways to address them. The discussions also aim to strengthen regional cooperation potential. On behalf of the Republic of Uzbekistan, O. Kasimov delivered a national presentation highlighting the country's efforts in the field of chemical safety.
