Uzbekistan–Tajikistan: Further Strengthening Cooperation in the Religious and Educational Sphere Discussed

Within the framework of the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization, an official meeting was held between Muzaffar Kamilov, Head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Sodiq Toshboyev, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and Sulaymon Davlatzoda, Chairman of the Committee on Religion, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the talks, the parties discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership and good-neighborly relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan through enhanced practical cooperation in the religious and educational sphere. They also emphasized the importance of combating the ideas of radicalism and extremism through enlightenment and education, preserving traditional religious values, and expanding the exchange of experience in these areas.
The parties also considered concrete proposals to intensify the implementation of the existing Memorandum of Cooperation between the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Committee on Religion, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies of the Republic of Tajikistan. Particular attention was given to expanding academic exchanges between higher education and research institutions of the two countries, conducting joint scientific research, and strengthening cooperation in the training of highly qualified specialists.
The participants stressed that the dialogue would contribute to further strengthening mutual trust, strategic partnership, and good-neighborly relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, while also promoting peace, stability, and religious tolerance throughout Central Asia.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, trust, and constructive dialogue.
