Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan Cooperation Discussed within the Framework of the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization

On the sidelines of the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization, held under the theme “Islamic Civilization: The Path of Peace, Tolerance, and Enlightenment” at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, a constructive meeting took place between Muzaffar Kamilov, Head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Sodiq Toshboyev, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Work with Religious Organizations.
During the meeting, the participants emphasized that the comprehensive reforms being implemented in the religious and educational sphere under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are contributing significantly to the country's sustainable development and to enhancing its international standing.
High appreciation was also expressed for the President's leadership, highlighting his strategic vision, well-considered decision-making, and consistent implementation of reforms.
The parties held extensive discussions on further expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in the fields of religious education, science, and higher education.
In particular, proposals were considered to establish a systematic academic exchange of faculty members and students between the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and higher education institutions of Azerbaijan, introduce bilateral special grant programmes, organize specialized modular courses at the Academy to train highly qualified professionals in the field of Islamic finance, and involve Azerbaijani experts in this educational process.
The parties also reached agreements on deepening cooperation in the religious and educational sphere, implementing joint pilgrimage tourism projects, and elevating practical bilateral cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
