A meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on the Sustainable Development Goals was held in the Senate

On August 25 of this year, a regular meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on Control over the Implementation of National Goals and Objectives in the Field of Sustainable Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Period up to 2030 was held.
The meeting was chaired by the co-chairs of the Parliamentary Commission, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva, and Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nuriddin Ismailov.
It discussed the work being carried out to develop regulated, safe, managed labor migration and an effective migration policy within the framework of the 7th task of the 10th National Sustainable Development Goal.
It was noted that in recent years, a number of reforms have been carried out in this direction, and legal, social, and economic guarantees for labor migrants have been expanded.
In particular, more than 20 legislative acts regulating labor migration processes have been adopted, and mechanisms have been introduced to cover the costs of travel tickets, work visas, and foreign language exams for migrants at the expense of financial sources.
The geography of labor migration has been expanded, and a system for sending citizens to work in high-income countries and training them in professions and foreign languages has been established.
Also, the number of migrants sent abroad in an organized manner increased 5 times, and the number of such countries increased from 3 to 16.
The money of our citizens, whose labor rights have been violated and who cannot receive their wages, is recovered from employers. In particular, over the past four years, wages, compensation, and insurance payments totaling more than $5 million 950 thousand have been collected from foreign employers for 13,630 citizens.
At the same time, systemic problems were noted at the meeting. In particular, the need to improve legislation in the field of migration within the framework of a single document, ratify international conventions in this area, reduce the consequences of illegal migration, and more reliably protect the rights and interests of migrants was emphasized.
Following the meeting, a corresponding resolution and a "road map" were adopted, and the responsible ministries and agencies were given the necessary instructions for the effective organization of its implementation.
