The granting of state language status to Uzbek on October 21, 1989, was a major historical event in the life of our people and the first cornerstone laid by Uzbekistan on its path to independence.
Taking into account the historical role and significance of the Law “On the State Language of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” and as a continuation of efforts to develop the state language, on April 10, 2020, the President signed the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Establishing the Day of Celebration of the Uzbek Language.”
In accordance with this law, October 21 was designated as the Day of Celebration of the Uzbek Language in our country. This once again demonstrated that our mother tongue, a spiritual value and one of the symbols of the state, receives the highest level of attention.
Today, every person, regardless of age, gender, beliefs, profession, position or place of residence, should contribute to the noble task of preserving and developing our mother tongue, which is a symbol of our national identity and pride.
Indeed, our attitude towards our mother tongue reflects our attitude towards independence. Considering that the mother tongue is the soul of the nation and a symbol of the state, preserving and developing it is the duty of every person. Accordingly, we all have the important responsibility of developing the Uzbek language and further strengthening its status and prestige as the state language.
On this occasion, a spiritual and educational event was held at the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the slogan “The Uzbek Language — A Symbol of Our National Identity and Unity!”
The event placed particular emphasis on the invaluable role of the Uzbek language in preserving the history, national values and spiritual heritage of our people, as well as on further enhancing its standing in the life of the state and society.
As was noted, the granting of state language status to Uzbek on October 21, 1989, was one of the important events in the history of our people’s awareness of their national identity and the development of our statehood.
During the event, participants exchanged views on the importance of strengthening respect and appreciation for our mother tongue, improving the culture of conducting official business in the state language, and strictly observing literary language standards in official documents and communication with citizens.
It was also noted that making effective use of the rich potential of the Uzbek language, preserving its purity and expressiveness, and strengthening love for the mother tongue and respect for national values in the hearts of the younger generation are important duties for each of us.
Indeed, respect for the mother tongue is respect for the nation, while respect for the state language is an expression of devotion to the Motherland.
May our mother tongue always remain a symbol of our national unity, pride and honour!
Dear compatriots!
I sincerely congratulate you all on October 21 — the Day of Celebration of the Uzbek Language, one of the important symbols of our national identity, spirituality and statehood.
Our mother tongue is a spiritual bridge connecting our past with our future and a strong foundation of our national unity and identity.
Therefore, preserving its value, making effective use of its rich potential, and further enhancing its prestige as the state language must remain a sacred duty for each of us.
Once again, we congratulate you all on this joyous holiday.
